During the second day of the APA meeting held on 27 September 2016, parliamentary delegates attending the meeting discussed the draft resolutions by the two Standing Committees on Political Affairs, and on Economic Affairs.

The above mentioned meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel, Second Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 9th Asian Parliamentary Assembly. Ten draft resolutions, which were passed this morning include four drafted by the Standing Committee on Political Affairs, and other six drafted by the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs. Delegates from 21 Asian countries energetically and actively exchanged views and experience in establishing legal framework with the goal of contributing to peace and development in the region.

The four draft resolutions of the Standing Committee on Political Affairs include Draft Resolution on Building Prosperity in Asian region through friendship and cooperation; Draft Resolution on Joint Governments and Parliaments in Asia; Draft Law on Joint Efforts in Combating Terrorism and Extremism and Draft Resolution on Major Political Developments in Asia.

The issues raised in the draft resolutions during the First Executive Council Meeting of the APA are the common ones occurring in the region and the world in which parliaments have the very critical roles to play in settling those problems with both the regional and global framework.
